Stanley Children's Centre in Teddington update

A new children's centre being built as part of the Stanley Primary School rebuild is nearing completion and due to be opened before Christmas.
Richmond Council is hoping to take possession of the building next week so the finishing touches to the building's interior can be made and the centre is ready for use. The build was part of the Government's drive to create children's centre provision across the country and Richmond upon Thames saw an opportunity to coincide this with the planned rebuild of the school.
Whilst the new children's centre was being built, a temporary one has been provided for the Council by Welcare on Twickenham Green. During the transition from Welcare to the opening of the Stanley Children's Centre, Richmond Council will ensure that existing services will still continue to be run at Welcare and other locations in the area. Details will be posted on the Council's website.
Cllr Christine Percival, Cabinet Member for Education, Youth and Children's Services, said:
"After three years, it's very good to see the new children's centre almost ready and open. I know that it will provide the community with a brilliant new children's space, particularly in an area that hasn't had much availability for that before.
"I look forward to the opening toward the end of the year, and hope that people from all over the borough will join us in celebrating the Stanley Children's Centre's arrival."
