Crowds lined the riverbank at Teddington Lock and beyond this morning to see the Olympic Torch onboard the Gloriana - another moment of history for Teddington Lock!

Crowds at Teddington Lock waiting for the Olympic Torch
People started arriving very early this morning and there were queues of people walking down to the river or on bikes. There was a long queue to get over the lock bridges with people trying to find a space to watch the flotilla sailing in and out of Teddington and through the lock.
Others walked or cycled down to the Broom Road recreation park to watch the proceedings by the river.
And for the people who live on the riverbank it was a short walk to the end of their gardens to watch the flotilla.
There were bells ringing and lots of cheers when the flotilla came through Teddington Lock, which was a little later than planned due to delays on the route at Hampton Court.
The little Teddington 'beaches' were also crowded with people and dogs. One keen fisherman had his tent up and one very keen photographer was in the water with his camera! When the tide came in he soon moved out of the water!
The Gloriana looked so regal in the water and the Olympic Torch was glowing proudly at the front of the Royal Barge.
We are certainly playing a key role in the Olympic 2012 celebrations! This afternoon it's the St Mary and St Alban Olympic Fair and this evening St Mary's Parish Hall is showing the Opening Ceremony, as are several pubs throughout the town.
Tomorrow and Sunday huge crowds are expected to watch the Men's and Women's Cycle Races and many of the town's restaurants and cafes have tables booked up already.
And don't forget the Teddington Active events at Ellerary Hall, the King's Head and the Baptist Church too, so there'll be plenty of activity in the town over the weekend for all.
