KINGSTON
COLLEGE TRAMPOLINE ACADEMY MAKE IT A DOUBLE
Kingston
College Trampoline Academy swept the field in the ladies U19 section
of the National Schools Trampoline Championship in Stourbridge at the
weekend taking both the individual and team U19 girls’ British
titles. The four strong team got off to an excellent start with 17yr
old Emma Britton, recently returned from the World Age Group Games
edging into the gold medal position by 0.1 in the individual event to
become British U19 Schools Champion just ahead of fellow WAGC team
member Zara Hall from Maesteg.
Pressure
was on in the team competition with three scores to count from the 4
competitors in the two round event. First to follow Emma was Jenice
Huxtable-Perrin who competed a steady set and voluntary routine to
ensure the College had scores on the board. Next to go was Melissa
Soden; recently returned from injury Mel also put in two secure
performances to post good scores in both rounds. But it fell to the
College’s British Double Mini Trampoline National C Champion, 17
year old Beth Anne Lumb to try and increase scores in each round as
the girls tried to edge ahead of the competitive Maesteg team. A fine
set routine performance by Beth was followed by a slightly nervous
voluntary routine, but despite this she did more than enough to
ensure the Kingston Academy Team moved into gold medal position,
three points clear of the Maesteg girls.
Speaking
of the event, High Performance Coach at the College Sarah Silvester
said, “I was thrilled with the girls, they all needed to perform
and perform they did, it was a great day for the College team and for
Emma Britton who last took this title when she was 13!Now we look
forward to the British Colleges Finals in Bath in April where once
again we have one individual U19 girl in Emma Britton, the U19 girls
team and Ashley Noble in the U19 Boy’s novice event”.
