February is Scamnesty Month

Richmond Trading Standards
is fighting scam mail by making February “Scamnesty Month”. The
nationwide campaign runs from the 1st - 26th
February.
Most scam mail, while having UK post
stamps, is normally sent by criminals located overseas. The criminals
target pensioners who are slightly confused and forgetful as they are
easily to manipulate. Details of the victims are then put on a
“suckers list” and so they then become repeat victims often
receiving 100s of scam letters a day. Once they
realise their mistake victims are often too frightened and embarrassed to say
anything and many lose their life savings in the process.
Help Trading Standards to tackle the scammers by placing your scam letters at the bins in these locations:
Teddington Library ,Waldegrave Road ,Teddington ,TW1 8NY
