Visiting the Teddington Constitutional Club

There are a few places in Teddington that you go past and wonder – what happens in there?

One such place is the Teddington Constitutional Club - and today I paid a visit to the club in Stanley Road to find out.
The social club opened back in 1905 and has a staggering 350 members who use the club for a small annual membership fee. The club is open from 1100–1500 and then again from 1900–2230, later on a Saturday.
Amanda, the club secretary and John, the club chairman kindly took me round on a tour of the facilities.
The club has a bar serving drinks and some food and has a separate space for playing darts. Darts are popular and some local teams use the club to play in - especially as the bar is reasonably priced.
There is a Ballroom with a wooden dance floor, which is a good place for music rehearsals. The Thames Big Band rehearse their swing set at the club. There is a band that plays every Saturday evening – mostly old style dance music.
There is a separate Snooker Room that has three snooker tables and there are offices and rooms available, some for hire. There are card games arranged – mostly Whist - does anyone play this game? Tea dances are also held monthly. There are also a few raffles that go on too – a Tote raffle and a Meat raffle amongst them!
The club is always looking for new members so do get in touch with Amanda or John if you would like to discuss membership benefits.
They are also looking for a local person to build a new website to show the history of the club and to promote the club today – any free help would be much appreciated.
