The children’s shop Pinocchio, next to Shambles Restaurant at 81 High Street Teddington has closed.

A new hairdresser called Laurel S will be opening and the new business is recruiting.  The salon will be using the popular Aveda product range - Mint and Rosemary shampoo anyone?

It is interesting to look at the advertisement, which for those of you who don’t know, it's a picture from the 1975 movie Shampoo, starring Warren Beatty and Julie Christie.  I understand from talking to people that the movie had a small ‘cult’ following and you can see clips from the comedy movie on You Tube.  Were you a fan?!

I understand from The Teddington Society that Teddington did have it's own cinema called The Savoy.  I believe it was near to the Post Office depot on the corner of the High Street and Elmfield Avenue.   It was an art deco style fronted cinema that seated around 1500 people but unfortunately closed in 1960.

Do you remember the cinema or do you have any pictures?

If you have an interest in films and are keen to know details of films and actors careers, you can always check the IMDB database which is an amazing resource for film fans.
