If you haven’t already bought your poppy the boxes are available throughout the town.
I bought mine at J Golding newsagents in Kingston Road and if you’re in the High Street or going and from the station NatWest in the High Street has a box too.
It is estimated that 25 million poppies are made and distributed just over Richmond Bridge at Richmond’s Poppy Factory. There are other poppy products that you can buy and use all year around available from the Poppy Factory website.
If you’re an X Factor fan you may have seen the judges, Louis, Dannii, Simon and Cheryl wearing the crystal poppies last weekend which has caused some media interest and a debate on whether this has been a good idea. What do you think?
They’ve proved popular and are now sold out, raising £5000 for the British Legion.
If you’d like to pay your respects on Sunday, there will be a gathering at the Teddington War Memorial outside Teddington Memorial Hospital at 1050am. This is organised by British Legion and the Teddington branch is in the High Street.
If you haven’t had a chance to see the new Dunkirk Memorial at Teddington Lock which was unveiled earlier this year, this may be a good opportunity to see how Teddington’s Little Ships played a part in the rescue mission during the second world war.
