What did you think of the budget last week? Did you get a chance to review all the details in the Sunday papers? And how will this budget affect life in Teddington?

Several customers in the petrol station were complaining on Saturday about the cost of petrol. Some people had been trying to put less petrol in the car, but were coming back again to re-fill their tanks. In an attempt to ‘soften the blow’ the garage has a large amount of loyalty cards out on the counter, and some special offers on chocolate.
Local MP Vince Cable has been interviewed yesterday on national television discussing the cuts and said it wasn’t appropriate for him to attend Saturday’s rally. Several Teddington people were in London to complain about the cuts and you can see some photographs on Tweet Teddington. Did you go along?
If you want to keep an eye on MPs expenses IPSA, The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority announced on Friday that they have “unveiled a package of adjustments to the rules governing MPs’ expenses and simplifications to the process for claiming them. We are restating our commitment to transparency and assurance to the public. We will continue to check all claims and to publish them”.
Because of the cuts to the Royal Parks budget, the Bushy Park Stockyard Education could be at risk of closing – just five years after investment in the centre.
This will be disappointing for Teddington’s school children and the young scouts and beavers who use the centre to find out about nature in the park. Vince Cable is enquiring about the closure, however if you wish to find out more and make an objection, you can email Vince Cable.
With the sunshine out last week and today, Bushy Park was very busy, especially around the Diana Fountain going towards Hampton Court Gate. The Diana Fountain now has Grade I listed status, a move from the Grade II status.
