Richmond Council this week appealed to residents to show their support for bringing Olympic beach volleyball to Teddington.
Under consultation is the proposal to convert two tennis/netball courts in Broom Road, Teddington into three beach volley ball courts. The courts would be available for residents to play beach volley ball plus a host of other beach activities such as beach tennis or using it as a play beach.
Richmond Council Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Pamela Fleming, said:
“We are always looking at ways to encourage residents to remain fit and active and get involved in sport – we have some of the most active residents in the country. Beach volleyball is an Olympic Sport, and as part of the legacy from the Olympic Games, it would be fantastic to make this sport readily available to all our residents. The condition of the existing courts is declining, and this is an opportunity to develop them into a facility that offers new experiences to o u r residents”
