Training at Teddington – Patrick Mahoney wins the Paralympics Gold Medal at Paracanoe

Patrick Mahoney, who trains in Teddington from Trowlock Island, and a familiar face in Teddington, has won the Paralympics Gold Medal in the 200m Canoe Race.

Beating off strong competition from his long term rival the German paracanoeist, Patrick Mahoney came in first to win the Gold at the Szeged championships in Hungary last week.
Patrick, his team mates and the English Federation of Disability Sport are thrilled with the win. The news has been reported by the Paralympic Media News desk.
This comes as fantastic news for Patrick and his family and there were many celebrations over the weekend.
The news is particularly well received as four weeks ago on Saturday thieves stole Patrick's specially adapted car. The car was parked in Trowlock Way, Teddington during a training session. The incident left Patrick stranded and without a car to go to work in for several months now as the new mobility car needs to be ordered and adapted.

This is fantastic news for Patrick and Teddington! Patrick has trained tirelessly for this event and more than deserves the award, many congratulations to him, his wife & family and the team.
Teddington provides excellent sporting facilities for many people in and around the borough and we should celebrate the benefits and rewards from all the sports venues.
As for the s*** who vanished with Patrick's vehicle, the saying 'what goes around, comes around' will hopefully apply to you soon.
