Richmond Borough announced the opening of this year's Community Roads and Pavements Fund earlier this month.
The scheme, worth £490,000, asks local residents to nominate which roads and pavements they feel are in need of extra work on top of the regular maintenance work that is carried out by the Council on an ongoing basis. The streets that receive the highest number of nominations will win the funding in each area.
Mr Peter Newall, of Pagoda Road , Richmond got the pavements in his street replaced in the last round of funding. He said:
“The Community Roads and Pavements Fund is a great tool for local residents to highlight where improvements or repairs may be necessary – areas the Council may not have noticed before.
“It is a quick and painless process to nominate a street, a pavement or just a pothole, and the residents of Pagoda Avenue are really happy with the quality and speed of the work that has been done."
To nominate a road/pavement, visit www.richmond.gov.uk/fund or pick up one of the forms at your local library. The deadline for nominations is 13 December 2013.
