Mica Paris will be performing at the Landmark Arts Centre later this month.
The singer - whose career includes a string of Top 10 hit singles and albums worldwide - will be performing at the Landmark Arts Centre, as part of its recently launched Pizza Express Music series on Thursday July 24th.
With her range, power and sheer soulfulness, Mica Paris made an immediate impact in 1988 when she released her debut, platinum-selling album, 'So Good' which included her first top ten hit, 'My One Temptation'.
This led to a collaboration with American soul singer Will Downing and a further smash hit single 'Where Is The Love'. More worldwide hits followed including 'Black Angel', 'Stay', 'Carefree' and collaborations with respected artists such as Prince, Jools Holland and James Morrison.
In a career spanning over 25 years , she has performed with leading artists all over the world, including duetting with Dionne Warwick at the World Hunger Day concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
As well as music, Mica is an ambassador for the Amy Winehouse Foundation, supporting young people at risk of drug and alcohol misuse. She was honoured as an "Icon" at Windsor Castle by the Duke Of Edinburgh and was chosen to perform for his 90th birthday celebrations.
Here, Mica answers a few questions about her upcoming performance.
Teddington People: What material will you be performing at the Landmark Arts Centre?
Mica Paris: Old and new. I'm always into trying something new.
Teddington People: The Landmark Arts Centre is such a great venue but probably slightly different from what you're used to. How do you feel about performing there?
Mica Paris: I understand it is a lovely building so I am looking forward to it.
Teddington People: What do you think of Teddington? Have you been here much before?
Mica Paris: I do know Teddington from doing TV here years ago and I remember it being very green.
Teddington People: You celebrated your 25th year in the industry last year. Who's on your playlist at the moment?
Mica Paris: Yes celebrating 25 years was very exciting because I can't believe I'm still doing what I love and that the people are still interested in me. I feel a lot of gratitude. I'm currently listening to Bobby Womack who passed away recently. I will miss him.
Teddington People:What's your favourite song to perform and why?
Mica Paris: My favourite song is Breathe Life Into Me. That song makes me think of the beauty of life and creation.
Mica Paris plays the Landmark Arts Centre on Thursday 24th July at 8pm. Tickets are still available and start from £17.
