Children* can enjoy a free weekend of storytelling, activities and a chance to picnic with King George I at this weekend's Glorious Georges exhibition.
Kids go free at Hampton Court's Glorious Georges exhibition this weekend.
On the 26th and 27th July, Historic Royal Palaces will bring the Georgian court and its intriguing cast of royal characters to life at Hampton Court Palace. The palace will be turning inside out for the occasion, with a royal study, lavish dining room and powder room appearing in the grounds, waiting to be explored.
Set within the palace’s beautiful landscaped gardens, the Glorious Georges Family Festival is part of an ambitious new Learning and Engagement programme across Historic Royal Palaces. The event, designed with families in mind, offers a fantastic array of things to see, do and join in with. Visitors can step inside the world of the Georgian monarchs and the palace they called home as they discover the latest fashions at court, join in family games and have lunch with the king - so remember to pack a picnic!
But before dining with the royal family, kids can learn how to become the perfect courtier by joining the Masters of Etiquette in the Powder Room as they hold master classes in how to achieve success at court. Here they'll learn how to bow and swordfight before crafting their own Georgian hat to wear for an audience with the monarch.
They will also be given opportunities to decorate a lavish tablecloth for the Royal Dining Room, play games in the Study and learn about Georgian music in the Music Room featuring a Handel workshop.
