Helicopters over Teddington

With the disorder through the country this week, most of us have been sat watching the TV in disbelief at what was happening. 

Teddington remained unscathed, unlike Ealing and West Ealing.  There were early shop closures in Twickenham, Kingston and Wimbledon and one shop window in nearby Hampton Hill was smashed.  There were also reports from Richmond about an incident at a petrol station and a fire at a supermarket.  Many Teddington people opted to work from home instead of commuting into London and many came home earlier in the afternoons than usual.

Richmond Council commented that - 

"The Council continue to work closely with the police throughout the day and tonight.  We do have a Borough Emergency Response plan and a Duty Emergency Officer is on call 24 hours a day, who has direct contact with the local Police. Should there be any incidents; the Council will work with the police to respond accordingly. "We do urge all members of the public take sensible precautions to ensure their safety and avoid any unnecessary travel to areas that have been affected by the events of the last couple of days. This will help the emergency services by giving them the room that they need to respond and rebuild their communities."

Constituency MP Vince Cable issued a statement from his Business and Skills department regarding support made available for homes and businesses affected by the rioting around the country.   

Some Teddington residents were concerned about barriers going up through the town, but this is for the Olympic Cycle Race which is still going ahead on Sunday.

There have been helicopters flying over Teddington all week, and, today we just managed to capture two flying over Holmesdale Road Teddington at lunchtime.
