On Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th of October Hampton Court Palace will hold its largest Big Draw event yet to celebrate this year's national drawing campaign.
The Big Draw at Hampton Court Palace this weekend.
The event will be held in the Great Hall from 11.00 am- 4.00pm and is open to all ages. Families are invited to leave their mark by take part in recreating what the room could have looked at night during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.
Children will draw round each other in pencil on the floor to echo the idea that servants may have slept in the room. They then have a chance to create colourful stories and pictures around the lives of those at court.
The Big Draw is a national drawing campaign which promotes drawing as an exploratory, investigatory and questioning tool.
Hampton Court’s Fenella Goodhart believes drawing is a great way of looking at something differently: "It allows you the time to reflect and observe, which sometimes in everyday life we don’t get a chance to do”.
“The Great Hall would have been a multi functional space which we wanted to highlight to the public. Children will have a unique chance to use their imagination and play on the biggest possible canvas”.
The Big Draw at Hampton Court takes place on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October from 11 am – 4pm. Admission is free with standard entry. For more information visit hrp.org.uk
